Are You Cut Out for a Career in Sales

When thinking of a sales professional, aggression and a sharp tongue often come to mind, especially when one thinks of candidates from "The Apprentice" or other such shows. However, in reality, this is simply not the case as sales staff are required to be amicable, persuasive and informative. In fact, aggressive or dishonest tactics could result in a serious disciplinary action.

Job Interviewing: Taking Care Of Yourself

Looking for work is generally a miserable undertaking. No matter how much education and experience you have, you are in a powerless and vulnerable position.

Modern Apprenticeships

A modern apprentice is where you are employed and paid (usually for a lowish hourly rate) by a tradesman, and in return learn the trade and earn a bit of money. The phrase "earn as you learn" is often used, and it sums it up quite nicely.

Some Apprenticeships require you to do a Pre-trade course. Even if the trade you want to do doesn"t require you to do a pre-trade, it will make getting an apprenticeship easier, on job understanding of what you are doing easier and makes the amount of paperwork you have to do during your apprentice alot more managable.

Although there are some fees and requirements for doing a modern apprenticeship, the cost is nothing compare to doing a polytech course, university degree or other industry training.

Even though they are not normally required, a pre-trade course makes it alot easier to get yourself a job or an apprenticeship. It also means you get alot of the theory element of your apprenticeship out of the way, leaving you to focus on working and your practical learning. They can be done as a night-course, or part time course, oor be done full time - take approx. 1 year to complete full-time. They are normally carpentry based, but are often useful for all trades.
